Ordinance Violations and Complaints
All City of Luling Code of Ordinance violations and complaint calls will be conducted as received for life safety and public health matters. Every week a Code Enforcement Officer will be out inspecting for various ordinance violations in different areas througout the city. The City of Luling is very concerned with the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens. In most cases of complaints for ordinance violations the Code Enforcement Officer will work with the owner/tenant to try and get the nuisance resolved in a timely manner, unless there is a creditable threat to the health, safety, and welfare that requires immediate corrective action. The most common Ordinance violations are but not limited to:
Chapter 58 (HEALTH AND SANITATION - ARTICLE III. - INSANITARY, UNSIGHTLY CONDITIONS ON PRIVATE PREMISES)
SECTION 58-71. - STAGNANT WATER (this is a perfect breeding ground for mosquito's.)
SECTION 58-72. - ACCUMULATION OF CARRION, FILTH, GARBAGE, RUBBISH, OR SIMILAR MATTER (not only is this unsightly, but unsanitary as well and could be injurious to public health, it also is a horrible way to attract rodents and other vermin.)
SECTION 58-73. - GROWTH OR ACCUMULATION OF WEEDS OR OTHER VEGETATION (High grass/Weeds/Vegetation is a major concern to public health and life safety, its a breeding ground for fleas, flies, and other insects, a harborage for rats, snakes, and other vermin, and a serious concern when it comes to fire.)
All of the above violations are a misdemeanor and could carry a fine of up to two-thousand dollars ($2,000.00), and each day the violation continues constitutes as a separate offense.
